A Meeting of Old Friends by Larry Liddell

There are experiences in life and then there are experiences in life!

Recently at the Delta State University Alumni House, I had one of those experiences that are truly once-in-a-lifetime events.

Clarion Ledger Sports Columnist Rick Cleveland and Cleveland’s own Dave “Boo” Ferriss held a book signing of Rick’s biography of Boo, “Boo — A Lifetime of Baseball, Lived Well.” I’ll give it a read and give you my critique later.
I arrived at the event at 5:45 p.m., and I found the place already packed. Doesn't anybody eat early anymore?

Downtown the Perfect Place

Obviuosly, we can't say enough about our downtown.
Various organizations including the chamber of commerce, Team Cleveland, the downtown merchants and the City of Cleveland have invested much time, energy and resources into turning our downtown into a winter wonderland. The backdrop of Christmas music provided from the chimes of the Cleveland State Bank clock combimes with the lights and decorated storefronts to offer us all a Dickens-like shopping experience.
Let's give our downtown merchants a return on their investment.
Shop Cleveland.

To The Cleveland News Leader:

I have known Kenny Williams for many years and was glad to hear that he was opening his own funeral home in Cleveland.
When my mother, Mary Pate, passed away in late October, my sister and I decided to have Kenny and Cleveland Funeral Home handle her services. From the start, Kenny was nothing but kind, caring and professional. The pre-need contract my mother had drawn up many years earlier with a different funeral home was honored by Kenny with no hassles. The small personal touches in the days following the funeral were greatly appreciated.
